Psychological consultation to adjust and choose the appropriate therapy, development path is the first stage that helps the psychologist and the client jointly determine the best therapeutic approach that will be effective and tailored to the individual’s needs.
This process involves several stages:
- Interview: Conducted to learn about the client’s history, current issues, therapeutic goals, and expectations. It is important for the patient to openly talk about their experiences, emotions, and difficulties. Honesty is the foundation for starting an adequate change process.
- Assessment: Various tools and techniques may be used for assessment, such as psychological tests, questionnaires, symptom scaling, or behavior observation. The purpose of the assessment is to understand the patient’s main problems, diagnose, identify factors influencing the problems, and determine therapeutic possibilities.
- Path selection: Based on the collected information, the psychologist, together with the client, decides on the appropriate therapeutic path. The choice depends on the patient’s individual needs, the difficulties they are facing, their preferences, and possibilities.
- Summary: Based on the collected information and the jointly established directions, the psychologist summarizes the entire meeting, sets goals, expectations, the duration of the process, and the anticipated outcomes.
